Event Overview

In observance of International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples 2026, and in line with this year's theme, “Honouring Indigenous Midwives: Protecting Life and Well-being,” Youth Save A Smile Foundation honoured two respected Indigenous midwives—Maharani Chakma of Project Village No. 4, Khagrachhari, and Krishnabala Chakma of Dharampur, Khagrachhari.

In recognition of their years of service, experience, and traditional knowledge, they were presented with special commemorative plaques and Pinon (traditional attire) as a humble expression of our respect and gratitude.

For generations, Indigenous midwives have quietly stood beside mothers and families, carrying invaluable knowledge and traditions from one generation to the next. Their stories, experiences, and contributions are an important part of our living cultural heritage.

The honouring programme was led by Arpi Chakma, Vice President of the Central Executive Committee of Youth Save A Smile Foundation. Assistant General Secretary Tultuli Chakma, Organizing Secretary Jashaswini Chakma, Sports & Cultural Secretary Rajdatta Chakma, and Executive Member Naborshi Chakma were also present.

Let us preserve their knowledge, honour their contributions, and celebrate the women who have quietly safeguarded life for generations. ?❤️
